Need an ID on this Gesneriad

Vancouver, Canada(Zone 8b)

Friend of mine has this plant, she says it was given to her with no name but told it's a Gesneriad. Can anyone ID it for me?

Thank you!

Hi There;
I am pretty sure that is not a gesneraid.Looks like what we use to call the babydoll plant, can't remember its botanical name.also called ty plant.The more light it gets the pinker the stripe.Grows quite large with the right conditions.

Maybe your best bet is to go to the Plant ID forum.....they can identify it....I really want to know...it is so pretty...

Nice Plant, Whatever it is ... Very Pretty! I am real curious to the Identity too ... would love to have one. And, it does resemble some sort of Gessie to me ... with the fuzzy type leaves and those stems! Sure hope someone ID's it real quick! I want one!

I'm waiting for Ki to see this thread... if there's a gesnariad around that Keyring can't identify, you could just knock me over with a feather. :-)

Yes, I have that plant and make sure you give it a lot of humidity. Some people cannot grow them because they can be very picky plants. But with the proper humidity they do quite well.

I also meant to add that 'siderasis fuscata' is in the family of plants 'commelinaceae' which includes such common favorites such as 'wandering jew' (tradescantia/zebrina), etc.
