How to keep the cats from eating the baby pom-chi-chi

My best friend's toy (re: teeny tiny) chihuahua just had puppies with a toy pomeranian-chihuahua mix. So, the babies are pom-chi-chis. Hehe.

I want to adopt one, but I have 2 cats with good hunting skills. I've rescued baby rabbits from their clutches, and have seen them kill birds and squirrels. Sad, I know. (And thankfully, a rare event.)

I'm afraid they'll try to eat the baby, who will be half their size even when full grown.

Suggestions? I've got 11 weeks to prepare...lol.
