Seems like we are having a lot of warm weather early this year. It's about the time I usually like to put out my broccoli, cabbage & cauliflower. But it is getting so warm so fast, I'm wondering if it will bolt soon ?
Anyone else just now setting theirs out in zone 6 ?
Is zone 6 too warm for cole crops already ?
I am in the process of setting them in zone 8. Don't know about Oklahoma, but we still have Blackberry winter to grow through. We can go from 90 -30 degrees in short order.
Don't know about Oklahoma either but April 15 is my target day for those crops. ..........warm today and chilly again is the norm here for several weeks yet.. ....Besides I have gotten nearly 3 inches of rain today! Does anyone else get rain like Indiana?
Send some of that rain our way Indy, It is dry as a bone and next two weeks will be my main planting time.
I'm with you Dill, we need rain. I can't ever remember March being this dry. I hope it's not a predictor of what's in store for the rest of the growing season. Maybe we'll have some April showers soon.
I wish I could share...Usually I hope for dryer weather [than average which is often WET here] at planting . It has been wet a lot since last summer.
The link below will let you check out average temps and precipitation in the lower 48 states for over a hundred years. Want to know how cold dad or grandad's winter of '36 really was??? It is there.

Cool link! Thanks.
I just set out my broccoli and cabbage here in KY yesterday. Hope Farmer's right, it's been mighty warm here this week!
Ahhh, Now I feel better. The weather said it's going to get back down into the 40's at night for several nights here. Now I feel better about those cole crops. I just set out some more lettuce transplants and even some seeds today.
Wish we could share some of our rain too. My garden is so wet, DH wants to till some of it again before it's planted. No way. It's a muddy mess out there.
