I live in southeast Arky and I have several hardy hibiscus and they have not sprouted yet, and many of my other perennials have sprouted. Do hibiscus sprout later than other perennials?? If not and mine are goners, will new hardy hibiscus bloom the first year?? We just absolutely loved these plants. Thanks!!!
Southeast Arky hardy hibiscus question
yes and yes...LOL they are the last perennials to sprout each year, and will bloom the first year.
:-)
Oh, Kyle, thanks sooooooooo much, I was brokenhearted, just knowing they were goners. Our fav is big and red and oh so beautiful, the star of the side garden entry, which is visible from the street. Hubby loves it and says it's the best way to start and finish his daily walks. Long time, no see, and wonderful to catch up with you here. I've given up the labor of brugs and the desolate winter garden of the brugs, in favor of roses, perennials that start early and bloom till winter, hibiscus being a worthy exception, and fragrant evergreens, such as wax myrtle, sweet olive, Elli Agnes, and other lovely plants that enjoy living here. I'm also restoring our family home, about 110 years old and continuing to enjoy my grands and our Bantams & dogs . Life is good. More than you ever wanted to know. Delighted to see you and hope that all is well with you and yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sweet olives are awesome.Soooo fragrant! :-)
I have cut way back on my brug collection too. They take so much water and space.
Kyle :-)
Actually, I'm amazed that my favs have survived, all the seedlings are yours and Kell's, I love them dearly and basically, they take care of themselves, and pop back up each spring, after wintering outside. I love their jungle look but the watering is back breaking & I HATE the pots, and don't do them. Now, sweet olive is a wonderful plant, left alone, grows into trees here. I've moved in the direction of old southern plants that love living in my zone, they must be crazy, like me, to love living where they do, lol, but true!!
