This is so off topic but maybe someone knows the answer....

Anyway... I bought some from Johnny's years ago. It plainly says - Plant in an established location as JA's are difficult to move once established.- Okay docky... So I planted mine and they did GREAT! For 2 years or so..

Then last summer they just DIED - and fast.. I am thinking something ate them!! All of them. :( They had already bloomed and when I pulled the stalks they came out of the ground VERY EASILY - as in... no JA under the ground to hold them down...

As much as I liked them I haven't replaced them b/c I figure they will just get eaten again... I am not used to having things drop dead like that - I mean it was fast..... Usually you can figure out the reason - know what I mean?

Nicole - Yes I know I answered my own question!! LOL!!! Oh well....

did you water a lot or did you get a lot of rain last year

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Actually I do consider last year a 'wet' one for my area! I didn't water them though but we got our share of rain. More than normal for sure....

Think that was it?

i do uve growed theam before to they are native to north america the onely relitive in north america related to the sun flower ive found they do better in poor sandy soil

Well I will take that into account if I plant them again!!! We had so many 'drought' years in a row that my brain automatically wants to buy everything drought tolerant. Truth be told though we haven't had a 'drought' in several years now.. I do have some really dry nasty places in my yard they would like better though! LOL!! I can certainly accomodate the sand - maybe plant them in my son's sandbox!! HA HA!!

Oh and thanks for popping in and telling me too!!! :) It's nice to have a reason!!!

Too much water never entered my mind!
