Hey Kyle

I was wondering if you have detected a scent? I was one of two growers in the country last year with that variety...hybridized by Sonny Stallings...and I never got a whiff of it. I also have and have had in the past Heaven Scent which reportedly had a scent as well and I have yet to smell that. Beautiful flower though and worth having for that reason only.

I'm currently working with a hybridizer in Hawaii who has scented hibs but she isn't ready to release them yet. Scent is a recessive gene apparently and because of all the hybridizing hibs that naturally had a scent have lost it. She is working to bring it back. Pretty interesting I think.

David, the only scented hibiscus I have that I really can tell a scent from is the wild white arnottianus from Hawaii. It has a slight citrus scent. Flameball has just a slight miniscule scent, barely noticable.Pretty flower, but I still like the singles the best. what can I say.I want a pretty hibiscus, not a pretty scented one!! LOL

Wow... I'm not a white flower lover, but that's a really nice white one, Kyle. 'Flameball' is pretty awesome, too... orange is my favorite flower color.

Hey Kyle

You posted this quite a while ago but thought I would add it's the arnottianus that gave rosa sinensis it's scent. Since they've been crossed so many times amongst itself (rosa sinensis that is) it's lost it's sense. There is a hybridizer trying to bring back the scents by recrossing with arnottianus. She says she's had some success but doesn't want to give up any secrets as yet. I'm with you Kyle scent on a hibiscus isn't necessary. There are though a lot of people who would go crazy over them. Certainly there are several hybridizers working on it. The holy grail of hibiscusdom. Lol!

LOL !!

:~)

You're men for cryin' out load...forget the Chanel...rub a fried chicken leg on it.
(Only women over 50 know this invaluable factoid).

You fellows are talking perfume when you should be opting for stale grease and a touch of honey/mustard sauce.
Conquer that, and every man in this country will want one of your Biskies next to him while he's watching Monday Night Football.

I see fortunes being made here...
