pond still green but paradise is a coming....

Naples, FL(Zone 10b)

loaded and unloaded 75 bags of topsoil then carried the whole shebang into my pond island over the weekend. Today I lugged the bottle palm I wanted to plant there home from the nursery (in my XUV where the roof slides back). I drove slowly (35-40mph) much to the consternation of the traffic jam I caused. So now the palm is planted and I'm pooped.

following are some shots of my work in progress.

Fred that is geogeous!!! What kind of Ti-plants do you have there? Red sister?

That is fabulous. Did you make your own rock? Such a nice job.

Jeri,

Red Sister is among them. I guess that's the most common type of TI. But don't ask me what it is I have as I've lost track. I have many different red or mixed plants of the sort. There are always so many varieties of everything. Whenever I see something different and nice I tend to want a copy and buy it. I then make more out of the one. My garden is quite an attraction. Somehow garden clubs find out about it and want to have a tour. I gladly oblige as this is something I love to show off. :-)

TA,
no, I did not make my own rock but I paid for it all by myself. :-)

PS to all who have been following the development of my green pond. It seems to be clearing up. Maybe it's the rock in the flow as each stone is picking up it's own bit of 'stuff'. Maybe that's dead algae? Or even live algae? When I dig a little in the rocks clouds of what looks like dust appears but the rocks were clean and washed when I put them in there.

Fred,

I am in St. Pete & want to have something built like yours. Who did you use?

Thanks!

The company is called Rockstar here out of Naples but they go anywhere in Florida. The thing is they know little about ponds. You'd need to design what you want and they build it for you. In my case and in my opinion it was almost the blind leading the blind but they won't want to admit that.

Here I simply asked for a skimmer and got one for a pool along with a 2hp swimming pool pump. I doubt if they knew there is a difference. If you speck all this out they have the people who can install it per your design. Normally they work from an architect's drawings and do large water features all over Florida. I guess they all have cemicals in them though. :-)
