Is Palm Tree dying?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I don't know how to find what I'm looking for on Dave's Garden Website. I have a Queen palm that is oozing sap and the bark has turned dark grey. A wood pecker put holes in the trunk about a month ago. Is it dying? I can't find information anywhere on the internet. I live in zone 11 - Houston, TX. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Carlam, I don't know much about Palms but you may find help at your county extension office or post on the Tree forum.

I hope you find an answer.

When I was a kid, one of our large palm trees had a similar problem but the area of damage was large. I can not remmber what happened to it. My father scaped out the damaged part, washed the area thoroughly with water, let the area dry and then filled the hole that was left with cement.

Great idea! Love to see that Sapsucker try to get through cement! Lol! That lil pecker would be bent!

Is it oozing sap just where the holes are and is all of the bark turning grey or only where the holes are?

It's oozing where the holes are but the tree is turning dark all over (lower 3/4 of the trunk).
