I just stumbled upon this website today, seems it's only a couple of years old, based in Winnipeg and caters to northern gardeners in zones 1 to 5. I found it quite informative with a unique 'northern' perspective, especially the Discussion Forum on trees and shrubs where they discuss what is hardy on the prairies and there's a lot of talk of pushing the zones, etc. Good stuff.

Great site Sandy! I will use this one a lot. Thank you. I couldn't get into your Carol.
Thanks so much for both sites .. just what I have been looking for :-)
Thunder Bay is slowly awakening to spring (I whispered that) we are grateful for the warmer temps but OH OH OH .. losing that SNOW SNOW SNOW .. makes the property an OOZE of mud in places .. the deer that frequent the back of the property have left literally hundreds of hoof tracks all over the place .. I just kind of think of it as "Grass aeration".
Best sights to see now are the rock gardens uncovered .. almost forgot where we had put one last year ..
Anticipating the first Robin of the season .. last year he/she arrived on March 28 !!
Thanks again

Hi Marilynne, Well now that's positive thinking if I've ever heard it! Grass aeration. *chuckle*.
Yes, 'tis the muddy season. We had a couple of inches of snow on Saturday, but it is almost all gone. It's raining today, that'll speed things up!
Sandy
We're probably just a bit ahead of Sandy here in the city. Got the same snow on Saturday, but about half as much. It was all gone yesterday. And thunder storms today - hard rain at times - will wash away the salt and grime of winter.
Now if it could just dry up for next week it might actually be possible to do some garden clean-up.
Ann
I have been doing the garden clean up all weekend and am exhausted. Lots of chipping and shredding and my compost pile will be huge this year. But the garden looks neat after all the pine needles, cones and leaves are gone. Well back out in the garden quite warm and a crystal clear sky. Today will be special and healing from the long Anchorage Days. Mud boots on and ready to go. I think today I shall listen to the opera "Norma" while chipping and shredding.
