As the fates would have it, I finally have my Bengal. :-) Abby is a 5-year-old rescue, originally escaped from a breeder in Tennessee. She has lived for the last three years with a family in Roanoke, Indiana, and we went this morning to pick her up. She's beautiful, and very sweet-natured. They wanted to find a good home for her because the owners have two other Bengals (both male) that have been mercilessly picking on her. Apparently, Abby picked on them as kittens and now they're grown up and giving back and she can't take it.
Right now, she's laying on my lap, as content as can be. We'll have to slowly introduce Baby and Simon (our other two indoor cats) to her, so for the time being, she is going to be staying in the dining room.
After we had to have Mimi (16 years old) put to sleep, I wanted to get a Bengal, but the $500 price tag prevented that. That's when Simon (free) came into our lives and then a year later, all the rescues started arriving. Somehow, these wonderful cats keep finding their way to our house, through various means. Just when you think you've reached your limit, well...as Hemingway said, "One cat just leads to another."
I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to give Abby a home, and oh...I forgot to tell you. She was FREE! :-)
