I know many of us here have pets, have any of you seen on the news that there is a major petfood recall going on involving cat and dog foods?? It includes major brands and apparently is causing kidney failure and death in animals.
There is a news article posted on the pet forum about it. It lists the brand names as well as places they are being sold.I dont know how to transfer the link to this forum but thought it might be a good idea just to mention it here as a lot of you may not be aware of it.
I checked it out on snopes and didnt find anything about it,though it did mention something about diamond dog food which supposedly killed some animals last year but I already knew about that.

threeg,
the link should have an S on the end. The link you provided goes to an actual food website!!
The right link should be---www. menufoods.com
I checked it out with my local Petsmart store just to make sure the food i'm serving my cats was not on the list. I feed meowmix moist in the foil pouches so just wanted to be on the safe side!! Turns out for the time being my brnad is not on the list and is considered as being safe to feed.

I checked and it turns out my regular special kitty is on the list, but luckily, I switched a couple weeks ago to a brand with a pop top lid that is not on the list......laziness pays off again.....lol
having 2 very picky cats is what paid off on my behalf. Neither of my cats like special kitty. I have tried every moist cat food known to man and they will only eat the meowmix foil pack (seafood delights)!!!
They arent so choicy when it comes to dry food but I recently got a free sample of something that they have fallen in love with--Purina cat chow Naturals with vitamins and minerals. They'll eat as much as i'll feed them at one time which is probably why they both weigh 16lbs each!!!

Well I'm glad that Purina Dog Chow isn't on there and it shouldn't be as much as we pay for it! You very seldom even get a coupon for it!
Thanks for posting this, dmichael. Neither my dog food nor my indoor cat food was on the list, BUT my outdoor cat food (Special Kitty) WAS! I'll be changing brands for her! Thanks - Karen
I have 6 cats and a dog, 5 of the 6 get dry food, which there wasn't a problem with. The only cat that that gets wet is the senior(15), and the dog will not eat her kibbles without a spoon of wet cat food in it, so needless to say, when Mom called with the report this am I had a panic attack until I found out for sure.
I have three small dogs who have been eating the pouch food from Wal-Mart. It IS on the list. We went to the vet yesterday and had blood work done for kidney and liver damage. Luckily they all seem to be OK. He will redo the bloodwork on them in two weeks just to be sure. Sure has been a frightening ordeal.
Wow how did I miss this? My dog does not eat canned food so I guess she is alright. I better go read up on this and see whats going on, how horrible. I hate to admit this but my dog gets hamburger, rice, and a vege mix for her wet food. Talk about spoiled......
There is a update from Men foods. " Menu Foods has asked all retail outlets to immediately remove all impacted varieties of wet pet food posted at www.menufoods.com , regardless of the date code."
