Here is a photo of my brug that is a little over a year old ,and was grown from seed. How long does it take to form a Y? Will the Y have to form first before the brugs get blooms? Thanks!
When will brugs form the Y?
Nice looking Brug, have you had it grown as a houseplant all winter?
Yes Brugs have to form the Y to flower you can see when its happening as the leaves get uneven at the leave"stalk".
Give it a good size pot with well furtelised/manured soil and bring it outdoors. Dont leave it outside all day in the sun in the beginning as all indoorgrown plants have to get used to the UV radiation that it doesnt get trough the window. When the frost danger is over leave it outside or plant it in the ground.
It should flower for you this summer.
Janett
I grew a red brug last year from seed. I planted the seed in February and by the summer, it was 7 feet tall and bloomed for me.
Did you take any pictures, Teresa? That is great you got blooms so fast. Mine generally took longer and sometimes not until the second year.
I agree with Janett, Skimper. Feed that brug a lot and repot it as often as it fills its present pot or in the ground. Push it. You need to fatten up that trunk so it can hold a nice flush without bending over or cracking.
I did take pictures for sure! Oh and by the way, I have several seeds of Miss Anna which are only about 2 to 3 inches tall ... about 3 of them have branched already!!!! I know I won't see flowers yet, but it's strange how they did that at their tender age.

Well, I just learned this year about pollinating, etc. I wish I knew about it last year. I still have cutting of it tho.
Kell, what do you feed yours and how often to get it to fatten up?
