Lavina
look on ebay as i see auctions for them alot there. sometimes they are seeds most time i see them for i guess what is called the bulb since they are so big. i have seen bulbs from 3" across to probably 14+" or so some as big as a few pounds each. ya have to watch though some are in the us some are not and need paper work to import but will say in the listings. very awesome plant i love them to and was considering getting one myself. just type in voodoo lily i think that's what i popped them up under.
hope this helps,
silkie
Ya it was the voodoo lily.....It is something different..... Ill get a trade list for those interested in trading. However I mainly have seeds.....thanks for all the info....Lesh
There is someone on DG that has Voodoo Lily they sent me some bulbs last fall.
But I think it got to cold when they were sent. Cuz they didnt come up.
I have Voodoo Lily Bulbs. They are small, they came off of my large bulb last fall. They do take about 4 years to get to blooming size. The bloom stinks something terrible, like a dead corps. But the plant is beautiful. I can send you some for shipping. I have enough to go around for at least 3 people maybe more.

wow i never knew they stunk.....lol....do you have to dig these up every year if your in zone 6? ill be interested to see how well they do. maybe ill plant it with a bottle of perfume. :) Lesh
yes i'm in zone 6 also it would need to be taken up for winter. i believe they are considered tropicals to us from everything i have found on them.
I have one that I just keep in a pot and bring it in for the winter
they go completly dormant
its about to bloom.......
and last year it stunk so bad I threw it in the garage.....
and I avoided the garage for WEEKS
When my first plant bloomed it was in my house. Oh my, my furnace started to run and the whole house smelled like someone died. We took it out side and the cold weather killed the bloom, it didn't hurt the bulb. Now when it blooms it's in the greenhouse and I leave the doors open if its warm. I love this plant for the foliage, it's very tropical and beautiful. When I received my bulb, I was told to take it out of the soil, clean the bulb, remove roots and baby bulbs and place in a basket, and then plant in the spring. I've never left one in a pot over the winter, mostly because by the end of the summer the roots usually blow out my pot. My blooming size bulb weighs about 4 pounds.

A friend of mine sent me three voodoo lilys ast year... They are up again so I am glad to know that they don't bloom for about three years...thanks for the info..
Peggy
I had some last yr but they have not come up and I have never seen them bloom. They get real tall and the stems are interesting. I ordered them from a catalog and they are sort like a Cadium and spread like them too. If mine come back up you can have them as idont care for them much for the postage. Fran Ps D-mail me if you want. I can let you know when they show up probably next month or so .
Silkiechick and Stetchworth I will be mailing your voodoo lily bulbs tomorrow, I'll let the others know when I receive there postage.
Cathy
Thanks Cathy.

These plants are hardy in Zone 6b in SW Missouri. My MIL has one that she has had for over 30 years and she never digs hers up or covers it at all. It is in the sitting area in her yard and you sure hoped the "dead horse plant" wasn't blooming on 4th of July when all the family came out for a picnic.
