Pruning Cannas

San Diego, CA

Hi there! I'm new to Daves Garden and also pretty new to plants in general. I'm a 15 years old and probably the only teenage gardener out of my friends! They think its so funny that I'm into plants! Well, anyways, my question is about pruning cannas. When their flowers have wilted and they start forming those seed pods and the seed pods fall off also, what should I do to the stalk? Should I cut the stalk all the way down to the nearest leaf? Thanks for any help and suggestions!

Yes, cut the bloom stalk down to the nearest leaf once its gone to seed. In your area cannas will probably grow and multiply all year round.
