Oh gosh I have a few clematis plants at the end of my property where there is a drainage ditch. However where I planted them the water has never gotten that high. Right now I have a few clematis plants that are swimming in water because of the quick melt we had. Is this going to harm them??? I am so very worried now :( I mean nothing has started growing here yet (zone 4) but I feel like this is all wrong for some reason.
Help! Flooding....
If the water stays for a while(over a week or so?) then yes, but I had plants under water yesterday early in the day and then by the end of the day it soaked in.
Yes things are a lot more whacky this year .
Even here in Aus.
We should never have let the Dinosaurs die .
I guess they ate to much garden .
I agree with Al, Dawn. Even a few days shouldn't do much. It's extended periods of wet roots that clematis (and many other plants) don't like.
Oh gosh I hope so guys. It has to be sitting in at least half a foot of water right now :( I sure hope the water disappears soon. At least you gave me hope. I guess I sit, wait and watch now and see what happens.
Please give us an update in the morning.
Well it is still flooded there now...going on day 3 tomorrow. I am affraid this water isn't going anywhere for a while yet.
We had puddles within the gardens where we never had them before. I'm wondering if your ground is frozen.
Yeah I will check that tomorrow like you suggested.
Our frost isn't totally out here, but after 3 days with above freezing temps it started to go. Hopefully it is still warm by you.
We have flood watch in our area for today and tonight, and a snowstorm watch in effect for tomorrow evening. How's that for switching gears? My neighbors have a pond now, Mother Nature built if for them! If it stays awhile, the geese and ducks will make good use of it, just like they have in the past.
Grrr everything froze over last night - it got really cold.
Ice skating party at Dawn's??
we have way more water sitting than usual. the ground is still frozen except for the raised beds. I walked around 2 days ago when it was warm and the back only drains into our lake in one corner where our neighbor dug a trench and lined it with rocks and broken concrete. I think we'll have to do the same on the other corner. the builder didn't do a very good job with grading and I told him so at the time. he sent the inspector over who (of course) said it was within specs (whatever those happen to be)
specs were that your check cleared ;)
Haha pixie come on over and don't forget your skates...we have a nice rink of about 20 feet long by 4 feet wide...we could skate laps LOL
Well that sucks for you Dawn. Our cooldown was slow here.
