Came earlier then expected...What do I do??

I had ordered a Southern Belle Hibiscus expecting it to arrive in the next month or so. Still pretty cold here, so I dont' think I should plant the little guy (about 10 inches tall now) outside yet....How long should I wait to plant outside, and what should I do with him in the meantime to keep him alive and healthy? I know they dont like to be moved much, so I didnt pot him up yet for the garage....

pot in garden soil if you can get it now, keep cool(not cold) and plant out after the last frost date. Then be very patient, hardy hibiscus are the LAST plants to sprout each spring. Just when yu thought it winter killed...taa daa! there it comes.

Thank you very much. I have some soil from a big pot that had mums planted in it...(just moved here, no leftover fresh soil anywhere) I will just use some of that and mix it with a little bit of compost and plant it up. Ill put it in the garage window (cold-not freezing though because it is attached to house on 2 sides)and hope for the best....
