Dillo Dirt in Austin

Lakeway, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi!
Has anyone used the Dillo Dirt from the City of Austin?

Is it good compost?

Thanks,
Ima

I used Dillo Dirt on the lawn at my old house. We didn't have much soil and the St Augustine was really struggling. It really helped with building it up so we didn't have to water quite as much.

I used Dillo Dirt, around the year of 1999 and 2000 when I lived in Austin. I thought it was fine and thought it helped the soil. Course, the way the soil was at my place, like dry cement, just about any amendment that was compost-like would help. I recommended Dillo Dirt it to my Mom, who was in a nearby town. People gave her some 'flack' about the Dillo Dirt; they couldn't accept the fact it came partially from sewage sludge. That didn't stop me from using it. I knew it was tested and thought it was a good product. I wish I could help you out more... Attaching a photo of part of one of my gardens in Austin, for you to see. I wasn't into photographing the gardens as much back then.

Have used for years. One yard per 1000 ft, spread and raked thin. Improves soil, holds water, and turns lawn green. OK for beds but rather use manure compost or regular compost.
