Tummy swollen & sore at girth

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

Goofy Romeo! Poor boy.. I was grooming last night, getting ready to ride in my newly rained-on soft ground... Found two swollen spots where the girth would rest on his belly. Hmm... might need to find a horse-picture and edit ti to show where it is... It's on both sides, and felt less swollen directly underneath of him. Anyways, I ran my hand over it, increasing pressure... He would either move away from it, or try to bite me (not sure if the bite was really anger or his impression of side-to-side flexion..LOL). I lounged him, and he was good, no feet-dragging, no head-bobbling. Kept the lounge to about 15 minutes. Ran water on each side 10 minutes a piece. Swelling seemed to go down a little, but not much. Walked him back to the trailer, and the spots were hot. Gave him a cookie, and said, "get well soon lil' buddy".

Any ideas? He had the same western saddle he's had on since I got him Saturday, english saddle & Chewie's girth Saturday, then english saddle & his own girth Sunday for a while. Saturday he was a twerp, pushy, speedie, and just flat obnoxious. To make him behave he had lots of round pen ground work, and a little english riding, ridden only at trot. Sunday some of the same, but less difficult.

Help?! I'll see if I can find a picture so I can better explain where it's at.
