aaahhh Springtime!

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

so glad, it's not sunny today but warm. Yesterday I put out compost and poo in the rain. Today just enjoying my nice dirt and beautiful hyacinths blooming.

It's balmy out here: misty or downright rainy, but warm. These are from last week. The early iris are done, daffs are budding, tulips jumping, rockcress is starting to open, delphiniums are growing by leaps and bounds and most perennials are waking up. The deer are also active- time to get the spray started.

It was warm here today (64 degrees!) but the wind was incredible and we lost power for about six hours. The trees were swaying so much I didn't feel it was wise to be outside - so I was in the darn house all day!!!

Seattle, WA

Wow, Shoreline had a beautiful Sunday! I might even have a tiny sunburn. I hope some other gardeners got out in the dirt.

There was some sun here, but also rain showers off and on so I didn't get outside except to take a few pictures. Considering I'm so close to you, it's strange our weather wasn't as good (we live in the "rain shadow" so it's often the opposite - we get about a third less rainfall than the Seattle/Shoreline area).

That's a pretty little anemone!!

Murmur, that sure is a very pretty anenome!!! Never have seen one like that! Wow

Annie, your yard is coming along with spring weather finally. Looks good.

Here is a picture of my front yard along with my puddy cat. Have so much blooming!

We actually had nice weather this weekend and part of last week too. Nice sunny days with warm weather into the high 60's. So have enjoyed working in the yard so much!!!

Sorry - my photo was a daffodil. I was referring to Mockorange's image which I think is an Anemone. I sure see how confusing my post was!

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Ok, that makes sense now. I was totally blown away at what I was missing with anemones. I love them for their early show so..................thanks for clearing that up, LOL

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Sure would be a nice one, wouldn't it???!!! Your yard is just beautiful, by the way.

Seattle, WA

I love double daffodils, very nice Murmur. And Daisyruffles, your cat is just surrounded by tulips! Mine aren't out just yet, my garden is a bit of a "late bloomer " compared to other NW gardens. : ) Thanks for the pictures!

smithers, BC(Zone 3a)

I am just sick with envy seeing those flowers, I have all my annual seeding done ,under light, have to transplant now ,but there is so much snow here this year , I may have to dig that away, to get to the dirt! I just looked outside and the snow is creeping away from the house and the dafs and tulips are coming up, I have problem with deer, the spays I have used did not work, any suggestions? I even put chicken wire over the tulips but that looked ugly, also the nabours cat loves my garden,GGGRRR.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

lol ginger - my yard is smelling much better. You may be smelling the dead skunk down the street (actually 2 !) talk about p.u. , thankfully we don't smell it up the hill, just when we drive down the road.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Well I`m happy about that Red .
Just thought I would visit your Thread for a change .
I must confess I`m not sure where The Pacific Northwest is .
If I post up a Map , Maybe you could make a cross on it ?

oooh, beautiful picture! Growin, Have you been to the rhododendron test garden in Portland?

*Ginger, I'm in Tualatin, Oregon (south of Portland) -does that help?

Beautiful, BC(Zone 8b)

Not yet. I didn't know they had one.

It's pretty, right by Reed College and Eastmoreland Golf Course in SE Portland. It's not a huge deal, but if you are in Portland it's nice to meander through (especially in April & May) some of those rhodies have been around a while!

Issaquah, WA(Zone 7a)

Great looking spring collection there Daisyruffles! Where's your cat's tail? If that cat can fend off deer, I'll hire him/her LOL. I glanced up the other day to find the longest legged doe in my garden and her fawn nearby feasting in the shade bed! They didn't even move when I bellowed "Get out of my garden" from the deck. Easily 50-75% of the tulips I bought at the Tulip Festival last April have been nibbled to bits by said deer. So discouraging, as we haven't really had a major problem with them in years.

Note to self: get more Liquid Fence.

Both the anemone and daffodil above are pretty. And Growin, is that rhodie currently in bloom?

Beautiful, BC(Zone 8b)

Yes, the Rhodie is currently in bloom - like walking amongst a forest of Rhodotrees. The Magnolia is also in bloom.

This Scilla mischtschenkoana is finished by now though.

Poochella, I guess I better brush the dust off of my liquid fence and give everything a spray, I haven't started this early before but I'd rather be safe then sorry, all my Hostas are coming up, and I definitely don't want anything to happen to them. also I'll use the slug bait at the same time. Jim

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Yep, the daff. have been blooming for awhile and the tulips are coming along very nicely.
Thanks for the comments, guys. I love it when the flowers finally start to bloom!

That rhodie tree is gorgeous. I love rhodies! The NW is great for them!

Annie, that is really too bad on the deer showing up just this year! After all your work planting them and all. I would be so upset! But a nice desert for them, LOL
Ruffles's tail is on the other side of her, LOL She is very proud of her tail, I will tell you that.
We have had deer around our place in the past years but so far, not a sign of them. Maybe they are gone??? Hope so, but doubt it.

Moxee, WA(Zone 4a)

Ginger/Paul, The Pacific NW is directly below Canada's British Columbia Province and adjcent to the Pacific Ocean where the city of Vancouver or capitol of Victoria are found. California is directly south as well. You may be a bit more familiar with Canada since it is part of the British Commonwealth of Nations ..... like Australia.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Thanks Kelly .
I get the Picture .

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

you tell me gingerpie, what in the world are Billy Lids? - I know you do that on purpose !! lol

what are those? - they remind me of the lorikeets at the Portland Zoo - you can feed them nectar. They land all over you like crazy - even your head. They scare the pants off my kids, lots of screaming, it's a really great time!

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Billy Lids = Kids .
We have this thing with adding ie to the end of everything .
