Where to find a banana tree that grows edible bananas

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I have 3 banana trees. One is about 4 feet tall and the other two about 2 feet tall. They have survived in my greenhouse through the winter. But they are all the kinds that do not bare fruit. Where is the best place to find one? And what one would you all recommend? I'm still very new to tropicals so your advice is great appreciated.

Thanks,
Jesse

Jesse, there are all kinds of places to get edible bananas. Ebay. Trades here on DG. You can google the name of the banana for online/mail order companies.

Here are some that might stay small enough for the GH:
Dwarf Red
Dwarf Cavendish
Dwarf Lady Fingers
Dwarf Namwah is supposed to be delicious, I don't have one :-(
Dwarf Mahoi makes two bloom spikes
Dwarf Orinoco (outgrew my GH before flowering...removed)
Dwarf Green? (I have one labelled Dwarf Green but I'm not sure that it is different from Dwarf Red)

Jesse-

I was able to get a Super Dwarf Cavendish (says its edible, I'm new to this, too) at Lowe's in Winston-Salem last year for $10.

The Dwarf Cavendish do come up for trades sometimes, and if mine outs out any pups, I'll be happy to trade with you.

Orinoco is available at Plant Delights http://www.plantdelights.com/Catalog/Current/Detail/04797.html
for $22 and is not too far from you. It says hardy to zone 8 so it would do fine in a GH, I bet. I'd recommend waiting until their next open house to pick one out in person. The musas were one thing that were worth the ticket price, but variable in size. Since you're so close, I'd save on shipping and go in person.
