While perusing the Pondmart http://pondmart-pond-supplies.stores.yahoo.net/index.html website, I read:
Residents of AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT and WA: A phytosanitary inspection fee is required for plants entering your state to protect against contamination by pests and diseases. A $25 fee is required to be paid for all orders with plants to these states.
Is this a new requirement for Washington State? This is the first time I've encountered this for an online order. :(
Phytosantiary insp. fee required for plants shipped to WA?
Certain types of plants (water, etc) and from certain areas (that have problems ie. Hawaii) require a phyto to get the plant to you. If I had a plant you wanted, I'd have to run down to they Aggie office for a phyto before I could drive it to your house. Inter-state phyto's are being required more and more (to reduce the spread of things like Sudden Oak Death, Millfoil, etc).
