Well right in the middle of winter I had a few flower spikes show up on my new hybrid. This hybird is a large grower of Macrorrhiza X longloba. Very beautiful cross growing to about 6 feet tall with arrowhead like pointed leaves dark green with white veins and maroon under each leaf.
New Alocasia hybrid coming!
I had three flower spikes come up on this new hybrid and nothing else was in flower it seemed. I went into all the grenhouses searching for pollen. Then I remembered I had some left over Alocasia Borneo giant pollen in the fridge.
I put all the pollen down in the flower in hopes to get a F2 Hybird. I know a little about genetics with your F1 hybrids you get varieations from both the mother and father in most if not all the seedlings a combination of both plants so to say. In F2 hybrids you get a much wider spectrum of hybrids you will get mixtures at both extreme ends. So with the F2 hybrids I could get truely monterous plants with the same colorations. So I maybe able to get what looks to be longloba form with broneo size leaves. Lets keep our fingers crossed for this one. Here is a pic of the seeds coming along.
This is so exciting Brian. The F1 is a beauty so I bet the F2 will be even better.
The only pollen I have right now is A. Gageana.

Can you get pollen in that hole to pollenate more than 1 berry?
I was able to get all the berries pollinated when the flower was fully open with out having to cut it open. Once done I chopped the top spadix off and as it has rippened the bottom section with all the seeds was swelling. I cut this hole to see if they were taking which they are.
You've got that magic touch.
