Great forum, great friends!

Most of you remember the "deep freeze" I had here in which I lost a bunch of my hoyas (I mean, I complained about it enough!!) Anyway, look what I just received from Tami - LARGE cuttings of cv. optimistic, cv Ruthie and anulata!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Tami! Your generousity in helping replace the hoyas I lost is so appreciated!! I'm soooo excited - can't wait to get them potted up to root. They are so large, and so healthy - AND, they brought warm weather from Arizona with them - we were in the 60's today!! Thanks so much, Tami! Karen

That is so awesome! I sent the warm weather, because Tami didn't have any:-). So are you ready for your epi & stapelia cuttings?

Karen, I am glad you got them, I checked this morning on the tracking as the other boxes I sent out made it yesterday. It said your box was still sitting in AZ. Your most welcome for the cuttings, half the fun of collecting and growing hoya's is sharing them !! I'm glad I could help you out on re-building your collection. I have met so many wonderful people on this forum who's generosity is just overwhelming, and I am glad I could pass some on to you. Enjoy....

P.S. You have D-Mail....

You're welcome, Karen! So the plants shipped well, huh? They look good. I put them in partially opened ziplock baks and used bubble wrap as packing. I has worried that they might overheat and might not breathe well, but figured they would certainly not dehydrate as much as when packed in newspaper or peanuts. Looks like a good method, although I don't know if I would do it in the height of summer!
Keep H. latifolia really warm. If it gets too cool the new leaves will distort in a really weird fashion and a lot of them will drop off when embryonic. This one is the least tolerant of cooler temperatures I have found yet.

Awanda, you can send her all the hoya's you want, but it seems the little bit of sunshine you sent her was taking from our part of Arizona :( snow showers forcasted for tonight. Please don't send any more out....

I am absolutely speechless - a hard thing to do for someone who talks for a living!! I received a package from dmichael today, and it contained EIGHTEEN HOYAS!!!! I am sooo overwhelmed by his generousity!! I didn't have almost all of the hoyas he sent - like imperialis, retusa, onychoides, davidcummingii - so this was like Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one! Thank you thank you thank you, David!! Your generousity is so appreciated!
Thank you to all who helped restore my collection after the deep freeze - not that I wish "plant disaster" on anyone, but if anyone should expreience a loss like that, count on me to take this generousity and "pass it on!!"
I will post a picture of what dmichael sent tomorrow - I'm having trouble sending any pictures out tonight - too windy here. But I do want to share them, so I'll try again tomorrow!

Karen,

It was the least I could do. I have been in your shoes before and know what it's like to walk into a gh full of frozen plants. I lost a few cactus,a much cherished jade plant and an entire collection of other succulents during winter of 05".

I was just happy to be able to help out another gardening friend who has experienced such a loss. Keep me informed on how well they do for you and i'm happy that you were pleased with them.

I'm just glad they showed up!!! I was starting to get worried!

I also lost quite a few hoya and orchids during the last two winters here in 'sunny, warm Florida'. Thanks to friends that I met on this forum (blue_eyes and pdoyle) most of them have been replaced thru their generoisity. They are truly great friends. I don't post too often but I read all the posts, and have learned a great deal from all of you. I want to say THANKS again.
