UltraGrowth

Drumheller, AB(Zone 2a)

Hi there,

I just had to share my experience with this product. As you know I have been using UG and Messenger in a controlled study.

Well I haven't noticed a lot since using the Messenger but I have only sprayed twice with it and watered twice with it.

I started watering and spraying the UltraGrowth on Feb. 11 2007.

Here are my results with the UG.... foliage is laying flatter (not sure why) flowers are a lot bigger than before and more of them. the foliage seems to have a coating on them that repels water on them.

I have some baby violets that I had transplanted that were not doing so great well this stuff has certainly perked them up!

I truly am impressed with this stuff and I am sure going to continue using it.

I had some thrips and the fellow I spoke with said to just keep spraying the foliage and the Violet will get so healthy they will leave. Well I have not noticed any thrips for a while so I am hoping this is working for that as well.

I honestly cannot believe the flowers now....whereas before I would have a few...now I have at least triple the flowers!

Some of my Violets that have not bloomed for a while are all of a sudden sending up flower buds....they just look healthier as well.

It is manufactured in Canada but he does ship to the US.

Thanks for the link! I haven't used Messenger, but have been using VF11. Have you used that? I'd love to know what a comparison between VF11 and UG would be.

which one did you get and how much do you use far your violets

Hello,

I bought the 500 ml and I use two tablespoons in a five gallon pail of water. I water one week with it and the following week I use my regular fertilizer by itself so the UG goes further that way and they don't recommend that you mix them. Although I have a friend that is mixing them right before she fertilizes and she mixes it up a gallon at a time. The bottle comes with a little measuring cup and it calls for one of them per litre of water but I just use the two tablespoons per five gallons.

It is also very good for eating algae. Most of my wicking containers now do not form algae like they used to.

I am still spraying every three weeks with my Messenger until I see any difference in my control group.

I am very happy with it anyway.

Yes I have used Eleanor's on my two Ghost Orchids and they loved it very much but I have been using the UG on them as well now and they seem to like it just fine.

One of my miniature orchids Pleurothallis Schedii which normally blooms in May is now in bloom so not sure if the UG had anything to do with that but I would like to think so.

What I like about this plant food is you can water with and mist with it as well. Of course Messenger is used the same way...I just haven't noticed a lot of difference with it yet.

I wonder how the components compare to SuperThrive.

What are the ingredients listed?

Would love to see Before and After Photo's of the plants!

I do have a question ... I have always heard that AV's should not get their leaves wet .... but since joining DG in October, I've read on different threads about people giving their Av's a shower/bath. Please tell me HOW you dry the leaves after spraying them, so they don't rot. I can't imagine standing over my plants with a blow dryer, but that's the only way I can think of to dry the leaves quickly so water isn't standing on them!

:)

Thanks!

Hi Lin,

I just kind of shake them in the sink and if there is too much water...I just dab it with a paper towel.

I have a Toronto Belle that had 3 bloom stalks on it the last time it bloomed and this time I have 7 bloom stalks with 4 blossoms on each stalk! I have had this plant for at least 5 years and it has NEVER had that many blooms. I also noticed that the foliage has flattened right out on this one....it used to kind of grow sideways or leaning somewhat.

The other Toronto Belle I have I never gave the UG to and it is not blooming at all. It is still growing kind of lopsided too.

I am sending a photo of the one in bloom now.

Joanne: That is a Beauty! I love that name too .... 'Toronto Belle' .... must be one of the Canadian grown AV's! I see you are from Way Up North In Canada! .... well ..... up North to me .... you are actually North West!

Hi Lin,

Yep....that would be where I am at.

Toronto Belle (A. E. Adams) Single rose-mauve two-tone. Variegated medium green and cream, serrated, girl foliage. Miniature

Yes it is a Canadian hybrid and very hard to come by. I bought it from Alannah's Greenhouse here in Canada in about 2000 I think. She unfortunately died.

It is a very pretty plant and thank you for saying so.
