howdy Clare. Your article has just given me an idea. I think I will send Luc 2-3 different cuttings to graft onto one stock. Have you ever done this? If so, any tips? I think it would be pretty cool to have a multicolor plumie.

Great article, BTW.

Hi Nery! Thanks for the compliment! Yes, I have done this, and Luc has too. It is very cool. Here is a picture of one below, belonging to a grower named Linda, that I have saved to my computer. It is Jeannie Moragne and Aztec Gold. Here is a link too which shows the one that I did: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/634751/ The grafts that are shown in the article are the ones that I did too, including the multi-graft one;-) The best time to graft is when the weather is warm and when the scion and root stock are both in growth mode.

way cool. Do you know I have the basic tools and have taken 2 classes on grafting and have YET to do my first. Don't know why.

I will send mine to Luc. Probably make a pink and yellow tree.

Nery, you should try it! It is not difficult, and it sounds like you already know how. I would wait until the weather is warmer at night and try it yourself, first with ones that you can afford to lose. Here's a link: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/687551/ I find it is easiest to use electrical tape to keep the two pieces together. Go for it!
