Yes, when I clicked on the thumbnail, I got the entire Birthday Cake ... and it looks good enough to eat! I Love Cake! May just have to bake myself one today .... :) LOL. My Dear Hubby gave me a 10 gal Aquarium for my Birthday ... just what I asked him for, so I can plant a terrarium! He thought I was kidding when I told him that's what I wanted! I really didn't think he would get it for me, but he did! I am off to buy some supplies to get it planted up!

Traffic is Horrible .... Bike Week in Daytona Beach .... 500,000, Yep! Half A Million Motorcycles in town! And, Spring Break for some of the Northern Colleges has begun, so we have the College Kids trickling into town too! The Beaches are packed!

Thanks Again Everybody, for all the Nice Birthday Wishes! Here's a pic of my Birthday Terrarium, all set up and planted. Some plants are going to be changed out shortly though .... the Birds Nest Fern (back right) and the African Violet will probably come out. Allison is sending me a mini begonia that she says will do wonderfully in here ... and I'm thinking still on some other mini type plants!

I had a great Birthday! The weather here is Beautiful, Sunny and Warm .... Low Humidity, which is wonderful. So, I spent most of the day in Therapy .... "Playing in the Dirt"!
Nancy: I've never grown Episcia's. I know I've read about so many different plants here on this forum and I thought that was the one that some folks said preferred "cooler" temperatures? But, I can't remember which one it was for sure! I know it was something I read in the AV/Gessie fourm. The photo's I've seen posted of episcia's are so gorgeous.
Hmm,I know the streps like it cooler and dryer,but I think the episcias like it warm and humid..especially the varigated ones. I think they would thrive in a warm,humid terrarium environment.Strawberry begonia might be another great choice. Oh and Fittonia I have seen in them too ; )
Ok, I was probably confused as to which plant liked it cooler. I have two small streps that Eunice/Starfly sent me. I sure hope they do ok. Maybe I shouldn't have them under the grow lights? And will they do okay in Air Conditioning? When I hear that a plant likes cooler temps, I always think it won't survive down here in Florida, even indoors! LOL.
I have a Fittonia in the back left of the terrarium and a skinny one front right side. I also put a teeny little piece of strawberry begonia in there that I cut off another plant. I wasn't sure if it would do good, so I only put in a little teeny one! You know, I think Eunice gave me an Episcia ... it's a plant that just had a name of Blue Heaven ... Yep I just checked, someone told me it is an epescia ... I sure hope I can keep it alive. I seem to do ok with AV's, so I'm gonna try my darndest to do good with this one too! Maybe I should put it in the terrarium!
