I just received my first epi plant in the mail, and a large piece has broken off of it (lovely plant, though, just one of those things). It is very narrowly tipped at the end where it broke off.
I know I should leave this for a few days before potting it, but I'm wondering if I need to actually CUT the bottom off this piece to root it. Would the rooting medium work better that way, or should I just leave it as it is?
Thanks in advance, and I really appreciate this forum--I'm learning a lot!
Broken epi - what to do next?
The piece that broke off should root pretty easily. I guess you could cut the bottom off, then leave it sit somewhere for a few days to let the cut callous over before putting it in soil, but I don't know why it would need to be cut, except that it might give you more area for roots to grow from.
