AV Shimmer Frost

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I have this plant from a leaf or plantelet that I either bought or someone shared with me. Is this the right name, Shimmer Frost? I can't find it in the Plantfiles.

I'll be glad to trade leaves when the weather gets a little warmer and mailing them is a sure thing. I sure hope someone recognises this so we know what it is. There is definitely no green on the blooms, just white and blue.

Wow, wow wow....that is amazingly beautiful. I just love it, is it a chimera? I have leaves of Tipt if you would like to trade.

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Not a chimera, the colors don't radiate out from the center. It is more of a mottled color pattern.

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

It isn't a chimera because the colors don't radiate out from the center. The good news is that if it is not a chimera, we will get consistant offspring from rooting leaves.

(Zone 1)

Wow! What a Lovely AV .... hope someone comes up with a name soon! I think there are lots of us who would like to find that one!

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

The leaves do look similar to Shimmer Frost. I wonder if it could be a wild sport of Shimmer Frost.

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

It sure is a beauty. I will be looking forward to more pics from you.

Chimera blooms are very pron to sporting. The shape of this bloom is different. The Chimera bloom almost looks "wasp" the way the petals rise in the middle and turn down on the outside edges. What ever the name it is truly beautiful. Thanks for posting.

Beth - My shimmer frost sport from you is getting ready to bloom. Remember we traded leaves last year? My leaves you sent gave me like 4 of this plant. They are all squished into one small pot. I have to repot in spring.

Can't wait to see what mine looks like.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

We all are waiting, maureen!

Ottawa, IL(Zone 9a)

Gail, I'll be sure to get some pics of it. I have to remember to get discs for my camera.

Hi Bonnie, I agree, I grow pretties without names too.

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Hope it looks like the original plant! I have a lot of babies from this plant in a flat that I need to re-pot.

Lindenhurst, NY

HI Beth. I'm waiting patiently. Hopefully another 2 days and the 1st bud will be open.

Stay tuned for pics.....

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

waiting .....not so patiently maureen....with excitement!

Lindenhurst, NY

HI Gail. I promise I won't forget :-)

Lindenhurst, NY

Well, here's the update.
First, i haven't gotten to get discs for the camera. I had the girls over last night and was up way too late and slept late. never got to the store.

But here is how my blooms look -- not anything like Beth's pics. They are very pale in color - no blue like in beths. They look exactly as the description that Debbie posted.

I'm hoping the other buds get darker and bluer. But it still is pretty.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

That is why a plant won't have a name because it won't grow true from a leaf. I am not sure but I think plants are tested at least 4 generations before they are even allowed to apply for a name????? Is that right someone out there?

Puyallup, WA

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

shllimac, join us all the time. We need you!

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Let it keep blooming and see what happens. I know sometimes the first bloom seems different from the rest. I can't remember what the first bloom on this parent plant looked like....

I'd sure love to see a photo of what mine is SUPPOSED to look like! Why is my plant so weird?
