I saw a Turkey Vulture from the road we were driving along. As we got closer to the mark we discovered that a Black Vulture had beat him to the prize...
The city guys drove by as I was taking the pictures, probably relieved that they don't have to clean up much after the birds are finished with it.
Black Vulture
The Black Vulture has two smaller light places on the wing, and the head is all black. Otherwise the 2 Vultures are very similar. Such wonderful birds! I love the way they soar on the thermal draft. I took several more pictures, but didn't want to completely gross everyone out.

Deb;,,
I saw a Black Vulture soaring around the other day..... I thought it was kind of early for them to be up this far but I guess not......
Most of the buzzards that spend the summer months here are the Turkey types with the red heads...
Pickens must be kinda slim down there if he's going to chow down on that thing!!.....lol
...Dave
Roadkill Skunk, by the looks of it . . . presumably someone has a smelly car?

Nice pics Deb!!
Beautiful shots of birds with not so beautiful reputations.
Janet
Super shots Gpom! The second Vulture looks like the Black Vulture. See how the white is only on the tips of the wings. I hoped I had a pic that would show the difference, but I didn't.. You did!! :-)! Your pics are pretty clear too, clear enough to see the all gray head very well! Thank you!

Thx Janet :-) I love these Vultures!

Yep Resin, Road kill for sure....there was no trace of the scent though, it must have happened way too fast for the Skunk to emmit...(oOO was what I thought.)

Cool Dave, guess they are coming back North again now.. I had not seed a BV up close until then.
