I've known people around here to plant them in protected spots and have them return. I planted some in fall and mulched deeply- keeping my fingers crossed! They are offered for spring planting too, but I think they need to be planted early because it seems they bloom better while its still cool. When I've planted them later in spring they just came up and fried in the sun (probably should have had those in shade). If you have a protected microclimate near a foundation or stone they would probably be fine. Good luck!

This is a thread I started about my Anemone coronaria:

I have it in a rather protected spot near near a stone planter that is part of my house. They do great while the weather is cooler in spring but once that summer heat & humidity kick in, they disappear. In the autumn, when things have cooled down, they return with foliage only, no flowers.

thanks for the thread ! I think I will try to get some in the ground as soon as it thaws . I have an area near my foundation that gets morning sun and is the first place in the yard to thaw so I think I will pop some in there but I also think I will try a few spots just to see where they do best . The flowers are worth the trouble and nothing would please me more than to figure them out!
