CLOSED: rain lily krakatau

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Does anyone have this lily for trade? My trade list is not up to date, mostly because I have trouble using it here, but I will be glad to list what I have if I find any interested in trading.

Is krakatau the genus or cultivar? I have the regular white rain lilies. I think I have a pic in my journal under bulbs.

It's the cultivar. Plants Delight has it but it's $15. Hoping I can find someone that has a trade of this beauty.

Zephyranthes 'Krakatau' is a new Fadjar Marta hybrid that Tony Advent is introducing in the USA. Please don't be put off by the price, it's a bargain. It took Mr. Marta years of intensive work (I'm talking hand pollinating, selecting, hand pollinating, selecting, often at night after work with a miner's helmet) to select this hybrid. This is his life's work, his passion, and he has done it all at his own expense.

Plant Delights is introducing some of the new Fadjar Marta hybrids to help him keep this breeding program going. There will be some amazing rain lilies over the next few years because of this man. He deserves the support.

ah, thank you. You have made up my mind for me; I'm buying it. And I promise to watch for new introductions. My only concern is that it's cool here in the mountains and the night temps can get into the 50s sometimes in the summer. Will the rain lilies handle that OK?

Thomasville, GA(Zone 8b)

50's would not be a problem but I'm not sure about your winters- you may need to keep them in a pot and bring them in at some point. Rain lilies prefer to be crowded, anyway, so that's not a problem.

I would email Plant Delights and ask. They are out of Raleigh, I know that the owner loves to test the hardiness limits of plants so you should be able to get some good info.

BTW, thank you for reminding ME that I need to get my order in!
