Taken for Granted

I will never be accused of being a frosty type fan but I have an Isabella that every once in a while I have to stop and admire. She is a hard worker and puts out blooms that sometimes rival some of these "new" fancy hybrids. So I wanted to take a second and post a picture of my isabella, giving her due credit. Since some people are still battling snow it might be a good time to appreciate isabella.

Gary,

Isabella is looking real good. It will be at least 3 months or longer before I see any blooms.

We often do take the older cultivars for granted at times, especially when we lust to have the "newest and supposedly best" hybrids. But these old timers have proven themselves, they don't have the problems that some of the newer brugs have, such as trouble escaping the calyx, holding onto their buds, tolerating extreme environmental conditions, etc.

The older cultivars deserve a place in our collections, because they have proven themselves worthy to be in our collections.

Gary,
I appreciate Isabella! She's beautiful, and here in Michigan any brug. picture is appreciated!
That is a great picture of her, too!

Thats a lovely photo Gary. What type of camera do you use? You have been posting very nice photos.

Delisa i just have a very inexpensive kodak CX7525 digital camera. It's one of those "easyshare" models that sits on a printer dock that also serves as a battery charger. I think I paid less than $300 for the whole deal and that was 3 years ago.

Wow Gary.. that is a beautiful picture. Even with the weather nice here, I'm a LONG way away from any blooms, so I sure appreciate the beautiful bloom pics!
Isabella was my first experience with Brug Blooms.. I will never forget it. Well, actually I had a single white bloom before that, but Isabella gave me my first experience with multiple blooms.. I sat on the porch with her till near midnight.. her fragrance took me far far away. :)

You got your moneys worth. I was using a Olympus C series then got a thin Olympus just so I could stick it in my pocket if needed. No camera case just slip in a pocket and go.

Lovely picture Gary . Isabella is anothr brug. that I have never grown , which always surprises me that I missed some of them, since I have grown out so many.
