Agaves, anyone?

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Hey guys-

I was thinking of putting some agaves on my dry bank, and was wondering if there were any good NC sources for them (other than Plant Delights). I'm from the coast and go home pretty often in Atlantic Beach. Was hoping someone from eastern NC along hwy 70 or 40 might know of a good place to stop.

Ideas??

Check at Messenbrink's at the Raleigh Farmers' Market (during the summer when they're open). The Farmers' Market is at the Lake Wheeler Rd exit on I-40 south of Raleigh, it's only about half a mile from the interstate so you won't have to drive far.

Fairview Garden or Logan's Trading Post have a better sellection. If mine make it thru the winter I can give you one. I got mine from a lady who got hers from the plant sale at the Arboritium.
We have a place at Kennel's Beach /back side of Beaufort/Cherry Point if you know where that is and I am gonna plant mine there.

I've never been to Kennel's Beach or heard of it. I just remember Harlow being back there. Funny how I'm still learning about eastern NC after growing up there.

Is the nursery on hwy 70 in New Bern called Taylor's? Also trying to find Fatsia Japonica--anyone know of a source for it?

There is a Taylor's Nursery in Raleigh on New Bern Avenue / Hwy 64 at 13b off of I-440 (about 1/2 mile east). http://www.taylorsnursery.com/
They have Fatsia japonica. Plant Delights has the variegated form http://www.plantdelights.com/Catalog/Current/page41.html

Thanks a lot, Tom, had heard of Taylor's but was not sure where it was!
