How do I want thee...............

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Let me count the ways.

YOU ARE SO PINK!!!

I think it is Begonia breviramosa and I think I would kill it. But shucks, I want it.

Indeed it is, B. brevirimosa subsp. Exotica! and indeed it is pink and I have a cutting for your new terrarium.

Here's my mom plant.

Here's another. The cool thing about this shrub type is that it will root and start from a leaf. A bit unusual but several of those from the Asian sp. will. (i.e. B. polilloensis,B. bipinnatifada, and I think B. serratipetala)

A terrarium Kell?? Do tell!
This is absolutely gorgeous!

Lovely! What is the special care for this one?
Still need to get a bunch of begonias for my terrarium and jars and that one would sure be a nice addition. Wonderful colors. Hope this weekend to get the 55 gal out of storage and get the terrarium set up. All the plants I got from home depot are happy sitting potted in the 33 gal though :~)

We need pictures Lana!! That sounds like you could plant lots of ones in there.

Cottage Gardens is now selling this plant! I saw 2 pots of them the other day.

Sue, I finally borke down and bought 2 small glass thingies to make terrariums out of. I was thinking of the PINK AV and maybe some fussy begonias. I am such a needy person.

Lali, so is B. brevirimosa a different plant from Exotica??

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

whoa, stutter posting... Exotica is a sub species of brevirimosa. Check out your Tebbitt book, more info in there.

I do have pics, some anyway, here http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/695907/ Will show my progress...or lack of on that thread. What is the Tebbitt book? Is it on your begonia info sticky, begoniacrazii? That sticky is great work BTW and super helpful!

If you look along the tabs at the top for Bookworm, you can click there for garden book reviews and other info. http://davesgarden.com/gbw/c/2025/

Mark Tebbitt has written a very good, yet technical book on begonias. IMHO, it's one begoniacs should have on their book shelf along with the Thompson's book (out of print but on occasion turns up on eBay and Amazon)

Here's what this one can look like when it's really happy. (at Norfolk Botanical garden, Tropical Display house, the little paradise at which I'm priveleged enough to work)

What a beauty Joelle. And what a great job. You get to enjoy and not have to have the Trooical Display house at home. What a great deal.

Lana, did you get your tank setup? I will have to check your thread.

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

Very nice plant, Joelle!

Here is a worm eaten one in Thailand. The one on the left is serratipetala.

I have the tank set up but not planted yet. Waiting for Rex Begonias to be the main focus :~)

I do not think yours looks so worm eaten!! LOL

That should look so great. A few hot pink ones. You could even put one of these in it too, your terrarium is sure big enough, Lana.

Funny, Lali and I were at the UC Davis Conservatory Saturday and they too had a big one.

I do like the hot pink one above. Sure would be a bright spot on the terrarium. What one is that, Joelle?
