where did the turkeys go?

Harpursville, NY(Zone 5a)

Hubby got up for work at 6am and our turkeys were gone. I looked everywhere and no turkeys. We have about a foot of crusty snow on the ground so they could have wandered anywhere. Across the highway and up the hill is a flock of wild turkeys and now I wonder if Dumb Dora, our flocks leader, has taken them to join the wild flock? Do you suppose they will come home to roost tonight?

mommagoose ~ can you see a trail of their little tracks at all???? Or did the snow cover everything up? Do they respond to any type of call? My flock leader "Boliver" would always come running, leading the pack home whenever I would "call" them. (this really silly noise that I'm sure sounds ridiculous, but it works!) lol Hiopefully they will come home at feeding time and back to their roost. Let us know.

Did the turkeys come home last night?

At feeding time 6 of the turkeys came home. Dumb Dora showed up at roosting time. They are happily chasing chickens this morning so all is well. I am beginning to not like the turkeys too much. Poor chickens are no match for these naughty turkeys.

Good to hear. I guess that Dumb Dora isn't so "dumb" after all? lol Sounds like your turkeys are acting out something terrible. Gggggrrrrrrr at them for being so tacky to the chickens.

Naughty turkeys, I guess they figured out that the grass wasn't greener on the other side and decided to come home. They are so beautiful, but I can see how they would be a problem this time of the year. I had a beautiful Rooster, I loved him, for the first year he was wonderful, then all of the sudden he started attacking me, I had to have a rake with me at all times or he would attack. But that's all done with now, we ate him for lunch one day, he made great chicken soup.
