Texas Statewide Roundup-April 28, 2007-DOOR PRIZES

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Everyone loves door prizes, so here is a thread to organize what people might like to donate towards this cause. I know I will be adding some things to the list, but haven't determined yet what they will be. We've had some really neat prizes before. If you would like to donate something, please post here so I can keep track.

Thanks! Kim

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim most of the time people just say if they are bringing one prize or more, but normally they don't have to specify what the prizes are, than it is pot luck. We should definitely have one prize for each person there.
Put me in for three, but I don't know what right now.
Josephine.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

I think doorprizes are a great idea, but I have no idea what I'll be bringing yet.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I suppose that is better Josephine, then they will all be surprises. If you would like to tell me in a d-mail so we don't get 15 of the same kind of prize (although unlikely) that would be great. But still please post here if you plan to bring something so I can keep track of how many we will be expecting.

Thanks! Kim

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim, I will bring three prizes. Probably books.
Josephine.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks so much Josephine! I guess I meant everyone can d-mail me with what they are bringing if they wish....lol...should've wrote that differently. Just put on here how many so I can keep count. Just trying to find the easiest way to keep track of things, especially with things getting busier as the semester progresses.

Never having been present when there were door prizes, I haven't the vague-ist notion what to bring. Could someone please tell me what has been given in the past so maybe this old addled brain can figure out what to bring. I won't have plants to share in the swap it appears unless someone would just dearly love some old frozen back things that are in my beds so the least I can do is figure out some door prizes. (Afraid I am going to be only a on-looker this time around aka a fifth wheel but I just gotta meet some of you and renew old acquaintances.)

People have brought all kinds of things in the past....plants, bulbs, books, gloves, gardening tools, pots, crafts. Anything that a gardener might need or want. No worries about not having anything to swap....we'll still make sure you go home with plenty!

Practically anything nice can be used as a door prize! Plants, pots, hangers, yard decor, bamboo stakes, gardening tools, books, bubbles, seeds, vermiculite in baggies, bat guano (also in baggies) (and Maggiemoo was THRILLED!), etc etc...

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

I was at the fall RU and had a few things to swap and still came home w/lots more. Thanks for the info on door prizes. I surely can find something. I guess I'm just not adjusted yet to gardeners being so giving.

Ann, I guess you left before the door prizes were given out the last time. Be sure you stick around this time, it is a lot of fun.
Josephine,

J, when you are old and miss your nap after lunch and your DDH starts whining like a 3 yr old, it's time to go home. I'll try to get him to stay a bit longer this year. He did so enjoy Frank and everyone.

Ann, I'll be sure to bring some good strong coffee to keep you both going.

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

What a great door prize!

Will definately bring a door prize or three! Probably a book, maybe some bulbs and/ or plants, and .... whatever I can come up with between now and then.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL!

Boerne new zone 30, TX(Zone 8b)

ok lets see... I gave away a statue I made, some water crystals in a baggie, a crystal dish, and a book. Basicly just about anything goes. Find something that you think someone might like or one you don't want or need anymore and bring it.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll bring a door prize. Not sure what yet, but I will have at least one, perhaps more.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Kim, count me in for some Neil Sperry books & a mystery plant. Not sure which plant, depends on what looks the best on the Farm in April. Will ck the books this wkend & give you a count.

Counted & I have 3 books!

Ok.....I am pulling this back up to try and get an idea of how many people are bringing door prizes. My parents will be coming and my mom has donated a homemade wooden stool she painted. As for me, I will donate two or three things as well. How about everyone else?

Kim

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

I have at last one thing to bring and plan to add another or 2.
