new from Texas

San Angelo, TX(Zone 7b)

I'm new and excited to this site. I've always enjoyed having plants. It's nice to know what you have and how to take care of them. I know I'll get good advice and hope I can do the same at some point.
Right from the start I'm hoping to get help on this new plant I got. It's in a 4" pot. It's small but is it a baby rubber plant? If not anyone know? Maybe what size pot to put it in-it's still in the one from store. Thanks and glad to be here :)

Thanks. did you get alot of snow? I'm not sure where the big snow storm was but I heard it was 12 ft. in some areas. We got just enough to look good in pictures:)

BOUQUETS and a BIG Welcome to you E!... Yep it looks like a rubber tree plant. You have found the best garden in the world, full of friendly folks who love to share their knowledge and insights. No question too big nor too small. Have fun learning, growing and chatting about everything in and out of the garden.

Thank you!! I'm loving it so far.

Should I go up a pot size or two? It's in a 4" right now?

You're welcome! you'll need to repot when it outgrows the pot,( when it's almost rootbound, you'll know because you have to water it more often and the roots grow out of the drainage holes, then repot to a slightly larger pot by an inch) Have fun and enjoy that rubber tree plant (ficus elastica)!

It's ready to get a new pot. I just got it at Walgreen's, they have 4" potted plants on sale for 5/$10. I've wanted a rubber plant for years but just couldn't afford the bigger ones. My mother had one for years and years.
I hope I can have mine for as long or longer. It's gonna be fun watching it grow and mature. With guidance and advice I know it will thrive. When it's able to be shared I'd love to give her babies to whoever wants them:)
Thank you for your help so far. If I can ever get away from DG, I'll get her a pot. I need to name her if I'm gonna be talking to her--it helps them grow~ LOL

Thanks again,
Elizabeth

Great, they live for a long time...see you in the garden! ;0)
