There is talk of a B&B co-op. They have Amsonia- a shady butterfly attractant. Is there anyone here who is interested and can run/coach a co-op? I think this company is a great source for more southern bulbs & perennials. What do you all think?
Thanks,

Co-Op
I don't have any idea what a co-op is. ?
But speaking of Amsonia, I've been meaning to find that thread that apparently you started. I've had seeds for a couple of years for a "blue flowering milkweed" but didn't have success with the first few I tried. I forgot about them until this year and tried again and was able to get one to germinate. When I went to research what exactly this was, it turns out to be this Amsonia! I said that I wanted to know about this plant but had no idea I'd find out so soon! ...I thought I had 2 seeds germinate...either I lost one, it died, or I don't recognize it. lol The perils of seed growing.
KKB,
A co-op is an addictive endeavor that involves several-many people going together to buy items, plants, etc in bulk.Typically there is a hostess who usually has helpers to keep track of ordering, payments, and shipping. It can be a great opportunity to get expensive plants at more reasonablke prices and to be part of a team/community. It can go well or it can go badly so you have to decide whether to go into a co-op based on the reputation of the persons involved. Most of them go well. Usually the savings are good enough to save money even with re-shipment from the hostess to the other members of the co-op. Currently there is a co-op for the watersorb crystals at a great savings. http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/groupbuy/all/

Wow, I had no idea we had a forum for that. I'm too much of a bargain shopper to do it tho. Last month I bought 2 bottles of those crystals at Wal-Mart on clearance for $4 each. :) I've never used them but have wanted to try them.
btw, did you purchase an Amsonia or were you just asking about it recently?
buying it tonight.
