I need a couple of answers please

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I was trying to add a couple of my plants to the PlantFiles and I have a couple of questions that I'm sure you all can answer. I tried to google and get the answers for myself but some of them I just could not find. And there seems to be a wide variety of answers for them already in the PlantFiles. I want the things that I list to be correct so that is why I'm asking the you guys, the experts. Some of them might be a little silly, but here goes.

1)Can AVs be propagated from seed or any other way? if so, how?
2)What is the hardiness zone for streptocarus?
3)Can streptocarpus be propaged from seed or any other way? if so, how?
4)How much sun for streptocarpus? is it the same as it is for AVs?
5)What is the bloom time for streptocarpus?

Thanks so much for your help,
Jesse

1)Can AVs be propagated from seed or any other way? if so, how?

If you're entering a named hybrid, the answer is NO because it won't be true from seed. In other words, if you were to propagate powwow from seed, you would get a plant called (powwow x self), not Powwow.

So hybrid AVs can be propped from leaves/cuttings, unless it's a chimera, in which case only from suckers. Natural species can be propagated from seed.

I think you know all this - you just have to enter it the same way.

2)What is the hardiness zone for streptocarus?

Most will grow outside in palo alto, CA. Not sure if they would in san Francisco - probably.

3)Can streptocarpus be propaged from seed or any other way? if so, how?

Same as for AVs. Named hybrids can only be propped from leaf.

4)How much sun for streptocarpus? is it the same as it is for AVs?

Yes

5)What is the bloom time for streptocarpus?

Most hybrids grown indoors are year round, but if grown outside, it would be sometime in spring - fall, depending on various factors.

Streptocarpus like same type of light in-direct, Sun Exposure:
indirect non-burring Sun to Partial Shade
just like African violets.
Propagation Methods:
From leaf cuttings
Can be grown by seed
Soil pH requirements:
6.1 to 6.5 (mildly acidic)
Bloom Time:
Blooms all year
Takes cooler weather but I would not leave outside below 65 degrees.
Category:
Tropicals/Tender Perennials
Streptocarpus like and must be kept on the dry side, let dry out in-between watering don't over water.

African violets can be grown by seed but most likly will not be bloom or plant true to Mom
