"Emerald Duke" Philodendron

Lexington, SC(Zone 8a)

Does anyone know of any store online you can purchase this hybrid? After seeing it in one of my gardening books I've really wanted to own one. I already have several of the hybrids, including Congo, Imperial Green, and Moonlight. I'd love to also add Emerald Duke to the collection.

I cannot find it for sale anywhere though. Thanks for any help.

John, do you have a photo? Also, do you have a photo of Congo and Imperial Green?

Here's two links to the two I have. Though I have had one heck of a time distinguishing them... every other website calls one the other, and it's confusing to tell them apart. I'm pretty sure the links below have it straight. I purchased both from a seller on eBay.

Congo Green:

Imperial Green:

I've also attached a photo of the Imperial Green. I have photos at home of my exact plants, but they look identical to the ones above.

This is the Emerald Duke in its smaller form. The photo in the book I have shows the leaves at 2' or more.

Those are great. I just started my Philo collection 2 years ago. Do you have the split leaf?

Beautiful plant. I love Philo's (even though Monstera isn't technically one it's close enough for me).

It's my favorite :) I started with 1 and now I have almost 10, LOL. Three of them are especially large. I became obsessed with this plant for a long time. We had one heck of a time living with them until we got in the new house. It was a squeeze in the apartment with these guys.

Here are my largest two.

Got this one as a cutting in Hawaii:

Found two of these at Lowe's in West Columbia. I almost lost them to mites, but now they are huge. They haven't developed the holes in the leaves yet, but the newest leaf on one of them is larger than some of the leaves on Phil.

Below is one of my favorite shots....

Linda, I meant to ask... how late in the season do you leave yours outside? I would love to try and grow one of these (from a cutting) outside in the ground one of our summers, but I'm scared it'd hardly get up the tree before dying. I have never left one outside beyond October before.

About the same. I have a small greenhouse that I put the larger ones in, the others come inside. I am going to grow one in the ground in the greenhouse. They won't make it without protection.

Louisville, KY

I have Emerald Duke growing in my greenhouse it use to be variegated with large blotches of yellow to white. I did not mess with the plant for a long time and it seems it lost its variegation. It is a older hybrid I believe with Hastatum species. I am not sure what shape my plant is in but I will check it out last time I looked it was all over the place.

Thanks Brian. You know, maybe I'm the odd ball out, but I actually like the non-variegated plants.

try searching on ebay (you won't find one now, I looked) but save your search so you get notified via email anytime one comes up for sale. I did that with a hard to find plant.

Nice tip, I didn't think of that. I've searched for a few weeks with no avail, but I hadn't considered the alerts idea.

Yeah, kinda funny, it just happened to be a plant that I found offered by bwilliams (above) on his ebay Brian's Botanical's store.

Glad I could help I have been cleaning out the greenhouse and propagating every day. It should be a good year for Philodendrons. I have around 200 forms I hope to propagate a lot of the really odd ones.

I guess you have to call to order with them huh?

Brian, I was also going to ask about your listing. Any chance you *might* list a Emerald?
