New Brug cold damaged, what to do now?

Fair Haven, NY(Zone 6a)

Good morning,
I'm new to Brug's and this forum, but not to DG. I bought a brug and brought it home Saturday, I thought I had it well enough wrapped, but apprently not, sigh. The poor baby, all its leaves are hanging straight down. I understand that they usually recover from this type of abuse, but how best to handle it.. Do I water? I have held off, thinking it may stress it. do I just wait for these leaves to fall off then water? What a sad sight, I have coveted brug's for years, and then I don't protect my new kid well enough to get it home from the greenhouse.
Thanks you all, I have been drooling over all the pic's on this forum, S.

I would give it a chance to recover, water lightly if it is dry, after a few days if the leaves do not recover I would remove them, they soon get more as long as the plant is in good shape, now this is just my way, maybe you will get other advice, and you can decide.

Geesh, how cold was it in your car?? Sounds terrible.

Fair Haven, NY(Zone 6a)

well, it was 20-23 degrees that day. I think the walk out to the car and then in to the house when we got home may be the culprit, and I will never go to a greenhouse w/o my own wraps again.
The Brug is looking way better, I gave it a careful dring this am, and the majority of the leaves are standing up agin. I am so relieved, I really hate to hurt a plant!
Thanks you all, especially you Doris!

Welcome to the brug forum, Slavka! We are almost neighbors, LOL. Well, Upstate New Yorkers, anyway.
It sounds like things are going well now. Doris gave you excellent advice. I am happy that you found a brug at this time of year in a greenhouse...only a few nurseries around here carry them, and when they do, it is as an annual. Do you know which one you got? Inquiring minds want to know, LOL.

Welcome Starina!
I am glad your brug is doing better! It is amazing what they can recover from sometimes! Makes us love em even more huh? Well, your gonna make a great brug mom.

Hello Neighbor and thanks for the welcome! The brug is v. peach. The mother plant and the cutting grown offspring were all clustered together in the greenhouse, and even my plant unaware DH gasped at the sight! The mom plant is at least 10 ft tall and just dripping in bloom, sigh.. someday I will have a greenhouse!
My baby looks good now, she lost a few leaves, but will be fine. I have wanted brugs for years, they're seldom available around here. I found her at Watson Greenhouse in Lafayette, they have a great variety of tropicals. I'll be going back as soon as I can, I saw some 'Equador Pink' and 'Charles Grimaldi' there, they're calling to me.
Along with the brug, I also brought home 4 Abutilon, Pelagronium 'Indian dunes', Boug. 'Texas dawn' and a couple other plants that escape my morning brain. A really fun greenhouse trip.
Thank you for the help and reassurance, I was so upset with myself for not bringing my own plant wraps.
Spring is coming. Slavka

Hurry up Spring!

Such good news to learn your brug. is looking good now and is making a strong recovery. I have bought several brugs. lately that have to go through the mail, and I've had the dealers hold my plants until my weather warms up. I want spring to come so none of us will have to worry about such things as cold when we buy new plants.

Well mine got cold-snapped. Looks like crap
So I am snipping off the tips probably wrong thing to do.. but stems are green and little leaves are shooting.
I am trimming limbs that are rubbing on others and thinning a bit.

My brug seems to be pretty darn bullet proof. The "messenger" fertilizer it loves. and epsom salts.
