New Double Pink!! "Leona"

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Here is another of Delisa's seedlings. I grew this out and she has a spectacular bloom for a first bloom. This is my first double pink seedling that I have grown out myself so you can imagine how excited I am. Right now her coloration is still very light, but this is right after she has opened so its still too early to tell just how dark she might get.
I need to check on the availability of the name but it looks like this one will be named "Leona" after both mine and Delisa's mother. Yep. Believe it or not both of our moms are named Leona so it stands to reason that fate has dictated that this brug get that name.

Since my real name is Leona, I think I should have a cutting of this brug!!! How neat would that be!!

Awesome Gary !! Congrats on a real beauty !! Really nice form as I see her. God bless, Margo

It is a first night open picture, right? LOL I can' t wait to see it tomorrow either. I bet that with that much blush on the first evening it will color good up tomorrow :)

Some people may be saying that it's way to early to name a flower that hasn't even colored up yet but here is the story. My mom was here with me the day I planted these seeds. I told her if I got a double out of them the first one will be named after her. Even if this brug winds up on some trail of shame, my mom is still thrilled and she knows I'll be thinking of her each time it blooms (even if they are deformed flowers!!! LOL!!).
For now though, this flower is a beauty.

Gary... A lovely flower ... hardly deformed... and with a good bit of early color.. the tendrals on a single would make it one to have... and as a double... very nice indeed...
So who are the parents of this one... and when were the seeds planted... thanks .. Gordon

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

The first things I noticed were the tendrils. Lovely. I hope she colors out for you.

Gordon for the parentage on this one. There has been MUCH heated debate over whether the Rubirosa that has been going around is actually Rubirosa or one of her sisters in the Rubiline. I do not want to ruffle any feathers so we will just go with Rubiline(Rubirosa) x Peanut. Either way the mom is one of Monikas and the pollen daddy is Ludgers. German genes, american grown.

Well, Gary, I think that I should be on the waiting list for a cutting as well, because my maternal grandmother's name was Leona as well. LOL Seriously, she looks as if she is going to be a beauty. You are very, very lucky. Hopefully, I will someday grow a pink double seedling as well. I have several packs of seeds that I'm hoping will produce at least one pink double.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

No trail of shame for this one, Gary. Poor John. LOL. His loss. I just love it so much. Leona is a perfect name for a perfect brug. Congratulations to you and to Delisa and to your Mom. Are you going to bring her one this summer?

You sure have brightened up our brug forum. I wish you would post your best shot in a new thread to decorate our brug page for awhile.
