Has anyone come across a web site or source of information regarding when to fertilize various plants in the south?
I was going around the yard today, weeding, and kept wondering, "Should I fertilize that now.?" I'm trying to me more conscientious about it this year.
I'm wondering if there's a "one stop shop" for this info, instead of looking up each individual plant.

Fertilizer timing guidelines?
Or...... How 'bout: What are you fertilizing in your garden in the next month or so?
...anyone? :)

I havent been able to find anything that gives a list of what and when. Here is my feeding schedule for the plants I have. I use liquid fertilizer, the kind that you mix up 1 tablespoon per gallon. I also water all the plants in the morning and feed in the late afternoon so the ground will be moist and food will percolate down evenly and not run off. I do foliar feedings in the late afternoon so the liquid has time to dry before nightfall.
By the middle of march when I'm sure there will be no more frosts I give everything food to wake them up. Heavy feeders like gardenia, brugmansia and roses get fed every two weeks until June then once a month. Gardenias and roses get a foliar feeding as well with half strength fertilizer every month. Everything else, like hibiscus, datura, canna and container plants get fed once a month. My last feeding for everything is in August.
I'm new to daylilies so I'll have to experiment with them until I see what they like.

X: Thanks. Very helpful. I've always more or less fertilized by 'guesswork' - not the best method!

Fertilizing schedules have troubled me this year. This warm winter really messed up things down here in my part of SC. I have chlolotic leaves on all types of plants. Everything is going to get a drink of dilute compost tea this week and I'll see if that helps; I don't think it will hurt anything.
