there are sightings of a Longtailed Duck in Lake Shelby at Gulf Shores, Ala, a Iceland Gull at Perdido Key, Fl Landfill, several sighting of Lesser and Greater Gull, Allen & Rufous Hummers and a Clay-colored Sparrow in Fairhope Alabama, White winged Scoters Info can be found here on Albird http://groups.yahoo.com/group/albirds/messages?o=1 just scroll down the list
Nice one!
They are usually the first summer visitor to arrive here, due in about three weeks or a month.

I have a rufous hummer visiting my feeders daily. Never have seen one of them before. I dont know if and when he'll be on his way, but he sure looks different from the ruby throateds that we have here during the summer.
Donna, congratulations on your rare sighting. Is there any history of previous sightings in Alabama and/or Mississippi ?
What a treat, Donna. Thanks.
Halo, I am told that if you feed a Rufous during the winter, it will (most likely) return next year. Do you have a camara? I would love to see a photo.
I saw the meadowlarks for the first time after we moved to Missouri, see a lot of them here, but I suppose they are pretty rare where Donna is, as I had never seen one in South Louisiana.
Oh Donna! How exciting! And thank you so much for sharing the photos with us!
Halo, I hope you get some good shots of that roufus hummer for us - I have never seen one!
So what does all this mean, I wonder? Siberians going southwest and westerners going east! Weird but exciting! I wonder if the Northern Wheatear has a Russian accent to his song. :)
With all these changes, do you think we could get Bluebirds and Cardinals out this way????!!!! What a thrilling thought for me, but I guess I won't hold my breath!
