I had to go to Lowe's yesterday to get some shelving supplies (I'm moving in with some friends, and I need to store/organize stuff). well, I HAVE to go into the plant section just to see what's there. sure enough, there are two kentuckianas (or however that's spelled) in nice big hanging baskets. I'm sure you all can relate to my will to NOT buy one as I still have to place all my other plants in the house. if I knew I had an extra hook site, I sooooooo would have snagged one.

(yes, I know the kent. isn't a particularly exotic hoya, but it is one that I don't have)

Kentiana is a TERRIFIC hoya...reminds me of a Beattles Haircut! All hoyas are beautiful and exotic for one reason or another....I love Kentiana...go back and buy it!!! LOL

I thought of you today when I was at Lowes.....and saw a big ol' basket of kentiana

I gave in and bought the basket as well as 5 little succulents: 3 different crassula "pagodas", a variegated and solid green "jellybean" sedums conveniently together in one pot, and a variegated opuntia.

sometimes you need to seek out the greenhouse manager or even the store manager. make a comment like "I come along every weekend with my husband, and while he's getting what he needs, I like to see what kind of plants you have available." sometimes they need to know there is a demand for a particular type of house plant. some will even say, "we've had that rack of tropicals for months.....they never sell," and you then know that you'll need to find another plant dealer.

I know that around here, Home Depot never has squat while Lowes usually has all kinds of neat things. it may just be different in your neck of the woods.
