Raising cats

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Do any of ya'll have special "houses" or other containers to raise cats in. Every year I have loads of monarch cats on my bronze fennel and milkweed but the birds eat the majority of them .

I had a few orange dogs one year I was watching but they disappeared before I got to see them go thur any of their stages.

BTW, that is Black Swallowtails on your bronze fennel. The Monarchs use only milkweed for a host plant. The two look similar, so it's easy to think they are both the same. But they're both such pretty butterflies and both deserve protection. It's so interesting to watch a caterpillar grow through all its stages, then become a chrysallis and finally a beautiful adult butterfly

don,
Thanks for the link. I really like the big ones you can walk in.

Linda,
thanks for the info. I'm a newbee butterfly wrangler so I don't all my cats yet. Looking at a couple of books on amazon.com to purchase.
