I was looking to purchase several musa basjoo online and I have found many different sites selling them. I'm looking for some decent size trees (1-5 gallon) and was wondering what mail order nursery in your opinion has the best quality, size and bang for your buck? Thanks.
musa basjoo
Many places will not sell them that large due to packing needs. I have shipped tons of plants and even if they have huge tubers or bulbs if you cut off the leaves your going to get someone complaining about it. In most cases your only going to find something that size for sale locally. Most places that ship mail order are only going to deal with small pot sizes and plants 1 to 2 feet tall. The larger they get the higher the shipping cost and packing needs as well as the plant itself. Most people are just not interested in paying a lot of money for something they could grow in one season to the same size.
I've looked into this and Brian's Botanicals seems to be the most reasonably priced:

Don't know exact size of plants offered, but have looked at many sites and reviews.
Given the speed they grow at, I just decided to purchase mine off eBay. I got a 30" tall plant (with only one leaf remaining) - it's grown two more since I got it two weeks ago already. I also purchased several smaller ones (all with their leaves) and they are all growing quickly too. I plan to put at least one of them outdoors this Spring in the ground permanently.
Overall I'd say save yourself some money and buy the smaller plants. They'll grow up pretty quickly from what I've seen with my own plants.

I love the Alocasia Borneo Giant that is on Brian's Botanicals Ebay site! Anyone ever try that?
