New Coop from Recycled Materials

Dublin, TX(Zone 8a)

It's that time of the year and my new addition to our farm is a chicken coop. I was determined to not spend much money on it...............as I am a super frugal person and find it quite challenging and fun to recycle everything that I can. :-) As it turns out, I was able to recycle the lumber from a barn being torn down, recycle the tin from my neighbors horse barn scraps and once I stained/water sealed the lumber it looks good as new! (I think!) The only thing I ended up having to purchase was the chicken wire. I hope to add another one next month! I know its not a "coop de'ville" but as long as my chicks are happy & content, all is well! :-)

Thanks Julie ~ I wanted to share with other "frugal" people out there, that LOTS can be accomplished with recycled materials. Glad you liked it and glad to share, anytime.

Thanks Zeppy! :) My new flock seems super content in their recycled home. Anyone else have a new/old/recycled coop to share?

Mine's recycled: a local farmer gave us the lumber from an old coop and we put it up in our yard. Here's a link w/ pics.
