Wallaby1 , I am sending a very big birthday wish to you on this special day. You are such a delight and inspiration to read on DG.
In your honor, I am going to spend part of this day searching for brown toned gladiolus and maybe a few others. Or is this just another random reason to buy more plants? No, you have really inspired me to seek new plants. I also will have lots of new spring daffodils, tulips and other spring bulbs thanks to all the great pictures that you and a fellow bulb-o-olic, Jamesco, posted last spring. My DH, with his trusty electric auger, and I, with my dibble, planted 2500 bulbs this fall. Here is a picture of Atom for you from last July in Nantucket. It was the first Glad that I ever planted. Have a wonderful day. Patti

Thank you Tom!!

Tehehehehehehehehe, I just spent some of my birthday money on some DESIRABLE aroids! Good ol' bertramsblooms here has set up an online shop, he has some great stuff!

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

Happy belated Janet! I've been looking at all your crocus/snowdrop threads with envy as all of mine are under 5 feet of snow and will show no signs until late April! This will be my back lawn in early May...yours is probably like this now or within the next week or two!

Gee thanks Todd! Do you always have 5 feet of snow? Just couldn't cope with that!

You have so much gorgeous blue there! At the back, is it Mertensia virginica? The flowers to the left look sort of like a Leucocryne. The others that look like bluebells don't look like bluebells!

There's not a lot yet, the Acacia is full of flower, snowdrops behind it have filled out. I got a pic but it was dull, the flowers are open more now and they are gorgeous, if only the sun would shine the scent would be stronger, there's no scent like a wattle.

I took this yesterday, the main branch is leaning away from the conker tree but at least it didn't blow over!

Look at those lovely little fluffy pompons

Oh my goodness! Janet, that is breathtaking! Does it have a soft fragrance? That looks like the variety I used as a cut flower and I always liked that powdery scent. Just as you warned, my Acasia seedlings rotted :( But, I will try again! too gorgeous not to.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I can't liken the fragrance to anything other than itself Neal, it is unique! I'm trying to think of how, let's say the scent of honey with honeycomb wax but with a slightly less honey scent and something added, Acacia! It's something you can stand and sniff at all day and never think it's enough or too much. I wish I could bottle some!

There should be oodles of seed this year, it's the collecting that would be difficult! I'm wondering if those from last year will grow on the ground. I guess you still have a few seeds left? I think I have 3 good seedlings, a couple of early growers which are big enough to live now I think.

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Happy belated birthday Janet. What variety acacia tree is that? It is really a beauty.

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

Janet, the blues are from Chionodoxa lochiae, Scilla siberica and Pulmonaria angustifolia. I must admit I have a thing for blue flowers!

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Janet I must say I'm intrigued by the small white flowering plant in the background; Ipheions? Crocus? Cyclamens? What is it? =)

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Thank you Cindy! It's A dealbata, it should do well in your climate, seeds should be making again. I took a few off last year, it's first seeds, the hot summer might have helped but I shall see. Your Schizostylis seeds are about ready, there was very few this year but I can send what I have.

Todd I think most of us have a thing for blue flowers! Your blues are doing very well! Great that they flower together too. Now I have more desirables to add to my list!

Deb, they are snowdrops, I don't think they would do well in your climate, but you could try.

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Thanks Janet, I patiently await. Boy you sure have a crackerjack memory. You are right we cannot grow the snowdrops but there is one similar that we can grow Summer Snowflake, Snowbell, Dewdrop, Leucojum aestivum. I have some of these and they do pretty good in our heat.
Most of my seeds are hanging in there. The dang high winds keep tearing up my greenhouse. We are having our March winds early. Cindy

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

cindy, I planted leucojum for the first time and looking forward to seeing them grow.
todd, the pic of blue flowers is fantastic.
