One would certainly think so!!

See .. if this web site may lend a bit of info to you, Mary ..

As I'm sure you've seen this already > http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2007/NEW01563.html

Incidentally, I've pilphered thru our pantry already - and found 4 unopened jars and two opened of the Peter Pan brand. Haven't had any p'nut butter sammiches in a good spell tho' .. (sighing relief) .. but are anxiously waiting to hear back from one of our adult grand daughters, out in New Mexico - who had a horrific bout just last night - with fever, throwing up and other symptoms associated to the distinct possibility of salmonellosis. She and her lil daughter (our 2 yr old grt-grandy), are devout peanut butter sammich eaters!

I made my peanut butter suet early last year, and have kept the cakes in the freezer until needed. Have been putting the suet cakes out for the birds since early Fall last year. Used a generic brand of peanut butter, but it wasn't either of those that have been recalled.
